The UIA Executive Committee which met virtually on October 26, 2020 has confirmed the exceptional renewal of Fabienne van der Vleugel as President of the World UIA Forum of mediation centers for another 2-year period (renewal of mandate).
INTERNATIONAL MEDIATION SUMMIT 2020 - China - Dongguan, Guangdong.
This year, 18-19 November 2020, the INTERNATIONAL MEDIATION SUMMIT 2020 is organized in China - Dongguan, Guangdong. The theme of the SUMMIT is : "Discussions on Diversified Resolution Methods under the Backdrop of Globalization".
Fabienne van der Vleugel, vice-presidente of the 77 committee of the French foreign trade advisor and professor at the University Gustave Eiffel, is participing on-line, to the session moderated by Stefan Pavletic, mediator CCPIT (Italy), about the following subject matter : "Building and Improving Non-litigation Dispute Resolution Mechanism and Its Role in Economic Globablization (European Section)".
Fabienne van der Vleugel is more specifically speaking about the differences between mediation and arbitration and the criteria permitting parties in conflict to choose one or the other dispute resolution method.
WHO'S WHO LEGAL MEDIATION 2020 : Top 11 nomination.
In the last edition of WHO'S WHO LEGAL MEDIATION 2020 (page 37), Fabienne van der Vleugel (VDV AVOCATS) has again been nominated, with 10 other mediators, in the list of mediators for FRANCE.
The 2014 April edition "Who’s Who Legal FRANCE 2014", in its article "Mediation Marketplace Analysis" (web site), and in its paper edition (page 68) already analysed the development of mediation in France :

The civil procedure code contains modern provisions to facilitate the use of mediation and new legislation is expected to encourage the development of ADR in France. Despite covid-19, mediation is and remains an adequate alternative dispute resolution offering to the mediated parties the possibility to master their conflict, to negotiate it and fix a negotiated adapted durable solution with the help of the mediator.
In SERRIS, the law firm VDV AVOCATS has been built in such a way to permit Fabienne van der Vleugel, in her capacity of either judicial mediator or ad hoc mediator, to organize mediation and private/plenary sessions, with presence of parties and counsels and/or to organize visio conferences.
Mediation is a modern new way to manage conflicts, which integrates a part of daring and flexibility.

Within the UIA, Fabienne van der Vleugel is acting in her capacity of president of the UIA world FORUM of mediation centers. The 27th FORUM was organised in Italy, in January 2020, just before the closing of the borders imposed by Covid-19. The very first virtual UIA FORUM has been organized in September 2020, gathering speakers from the US, Australia, Africa and Europe.
UIA is the association to adhere to, permitting enhancing knowledge of law and cultures.
