12th International commercial mediation competition - ICC PARIS.

The 12nd ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition will take place in February 2017 at ICC Headquarters and surrounding premises in Paris.

This 6-day competition, for the 12nd consecutive year, will feature around 200 mock mediation sessions, as well as numerous training programs and social events.

This Competition will give again the opportunity to about 66 university teams of students coming from all over the world, to meet with the world's leading mediators and members of some of the most prestigious mediation associations worldwide.

The ICC mediation competition brings together students – future business managers and lawyers – with professional experienced mediators.

This ICC mediation competition is the “must attend” event in the international mediation field.

It creates the opportunity for students coming from all over the world to practice and to enhance their negotiating power, during multiple professionally handled mediation sessions under ICC competition rules. It is a very interesting way for the students to learn, to teach, to share experience and to create a vast international network.

Fabienne van der Vleugel has volunteered her time to participate to this 12nd ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) international commercial mediation competition in Paris as judge and mediator.

For the previous competitions, Fabienne van der Vleugel has volunteered her time to assume the role of mediator and judge (notably, she was the judge for the finale of the 7th competition in 2012 and for the finale of the 11th competition in 2016). She also co-coached the French team of the EFB SCHOOL - Ecole de Formation du Barreau - together with Michèle Jaudel, mediator and lawyer admitted to practice in Paris Bar. The team of EFB SCHOOL was the 21st (on 66 universities/business schools). As member of the Competition Problems Working Group, she authored the text "ETHAJAC CREAM" chosen by ICC for the 1/4 the Finale in February 2012.

“ICC wishes to empower tomorrow's business people and legal practitioners to better meet the dispute resolution needs of an increasingly cross-cultural and global market. Students will learn to effectively combine the use of the Mediator and collaborative problem-solving skills to successfully present Parties' interests and progress towards a settlement.” (source ICC website).
