Fabienne van der Vleugel has participated to the UIA Forum for some years.
She has been nominated vice-president of the sub-committee of the UIA World Forum of Mediation Centres (cf. VDV news 01.02.2012) and, in October 2014, co-president (cf. VDV news 28.10.2014).
In Thessalokini, she is one of the speakers for the session "Changing the Mind-Set" together with Rahim SHAMJI, Director of Education and Training ADR Group, London UK, Elena KOLTSAKI, ADRg/Mediation Institute of Thessaloniki Trainer, and Rosemary JACKSON, QC London UK (moderator of the session).
During this session, Fabienne van der Vleugel spoke about “How can lawyers’ reluctance to recommend mediation be overcome?”.

The OHIM’s first ever IP Mediation Conference took place in Alicante, Spain. This was the opportunity to study the impact and importance of mediation in IP fields.
The OHIM asked Fabienne van der Vleugel to discuss the following topic : "Leave the law outside the door. Commercial interests come first".
This was the opportunity to analyse various questions : do we really have to put aside the law to manager commercial oriented solutions? how do we negotiate and handle law at the same time? place of lawyers in mediation?
Fabienne van der Vleugel has analysed this matter with a very practical viewpoint with the following conclusion: "... ok, go ahead with mediation, but do not definitely close the door ... leave the door open.." (power point presentation on OHIM website, see below).

This seminar is organized this year with the support of the University of Houston Law Center, in HOUSTON, TEXAS, US.

This year, she is moderating the working session "Mining the Minds".
Fabienne van der Vleugel and Bruno MENSAH, accountant expert, have presented together a conference to explain various aspects of the new 2014 French Tax Law.
The conference was organized for the CEVE - Club des Entrepreneurs du Val d'Europe - in the very newly built offices of BURO NOMADE.
