The UIA (International association of lawyers) has been established in 1927.

With members in over 110 countries, the UIA is a global and multi-cultural organization for the legal profession that facilitates professional development, stimulates learning and networking, and promotes the Rule of Law.

Members are actively participating and/or organizing seminars, meetings, forums, various actions and conferences in any part of the world.

Within the UIA, Fabienne van der Vleugel is acting in her capacity of president of the UIA world FORUM of mediation centers. The 27th FORUM was organised in Italy, in January 2020, just before the closing of the borders imposed by Covid-19. The very first virtual UIA FORUM has been organized in September 2020, gathering speakers from the US, Australia, Africa and Europe.

UIA is the association to adhere to, permitting enhancing knowledge of law and cultures.
